Toyota Techstream software. I bought mini VCI and it came with Techstream 17.02.00. After I install it and plug up to the Lexus ls 430 it keeps asking for a registration code that is to be sent to me.

I went through a lot getting an old XP up and running to use this software ...I need this information before I can use it at all..
Somewhat frustrating since I paid good money to have the hardware and software work. But no,I have to spend hours trying to find out how to get the registration code to input.
Lots of generators out there . I tried one ,but it wanted a TOKEN??? Never saw a Token ,just that 32 bit number . NO idea how to use this hardware since that has stopped me in my tracks. WIsh I had bought something that would've just worked out of the box ...
Now I have to HUNT down some kind of @#) registration code from ?>?? knows where.... Somewhat frustrated... Hardware/Software did not mention that part...

 

Looks like you need a crack program (slow down the playback to 0.75).


What was your intention for using this?

It's not very handy, but I use one of these. It's stand-alone and works like an old school scan tool. TBH, I've only used to a handful of times.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply! Before creating this post I had spent many hours looking for and finding the WRONG generators. Too many would do 17.30, none would crack my version. One did and asked for info like TOKENS. I tried looking TOKENS & TECHSTREAM up. This is a huge part of the frustration that I am having after ordering this MINI VCI . I can not believe they would SELL me something where I cannot get the software to work .. This is hugely unfair to any customer of theirs. Really, without the registration code It makes the whole thing GARBAGE !!!! . And after hours of searching, I still have nothing. I guess for anyone here who has a LEXUS, DO not buy this ....Unless you want to spend hours trying to get the software registered!!!! ( of course, so far I haven't done that and hope that at CLUBLEXUS , someone might know where to find somewhere/something/somehow that will register the mini vci techstream software for me.)

What we need to use one for: We need to check out our engine on the LS 430 and are hoping the mini vci will spit out some codes relating to misfiring cylinders and , well, crank shaft angle sensor related data and such. We haven't used a diagnostic tool as of yet , and we will have to learn to use Toyotas techstream (err ,if we actually can use it in the future)
(_We had a rad overhose blow up and spew out fluid everywhere, now engine is running rough. We did compression tests on the cylinders and checked each for spark. We will be doing a rad pressure test and want to run some diagnostic tests on the engine as well)

I don't know exactly what you bought or from where, but I also bought a VCI cable that came with Techstream on a CD. Most VCI cables sold on Amazon, ebay and Aliexpress are virtually the same thing and all come with the same software, or very similar. The thing is, once you install Techstream, you can not start the software with the regular Techstream icon or you will have a problem. There is a "launcher" that you have to use to start Techstream. If you do not use the launcher, it will ask you for a code and want to verify your info online etc etc. If you use the launcher then it works and Techstream runs. I made that mistake the first time because I didn't know what the launcher was and the instructions were rather poor. See if you have some sort of similar launcher included on the CD that came with your VCI cable. I'm not 100% sure of the name of the launcher, but I think it has launcher in the name... if need be I can dig out my Lexus laptop and see exactly what it is that I run to make it work

 

Pirate software discussions are not allowed on Club Lexus. Techstream is available through a professional subscription on TIS for $1295 a year, or less for a 3 day subscription. The sellers you purchased your pirated software from have no ability to help you solve the issues you have using crack tools or fake keys. UPDATE: $1350 annual as of 10/2024. Just renewed mine.
