Hi all,Had this beefy pioneer unit for four years now. Works great. Just looking for feedback on thinner units that maybe could even sit flush? I know these dashes are built for factory, but it would be nice if a cheaper thin unit could sit back and get a different bezel?
That’s the Beat Sonic kit, Metra makes one that looks even worse. I think a custom job would be the only way to get it flush. It’s not the receiver, it’s the double din adapter. Just in case you need a thinner stereo they make them super thin now, this one for example is only 3.7” deep.
As far as I know, there are only two dash kits for the non-nav LS430, Metra and Beatsonic. Both have the pronounced bulge. They're made that way to accommodate standard length DIN head units. As Jaysco pointed out, that's not strictly necessary anymore, but nobody ever bothered to make a thinner dash kit for the LS430, and probably never will. If you have a friend that has a 3D printer, somebody made a bezel to fit a 10 inch LCD screen in place of a head unit in the LS430. It's flat and could be modified to fit a shallow double din head unit instead of a 10 inch LCD. Otherwise a stereo shop with very good custom abilities is your only hope.
