Overall I am pleased with my Richmond Auto Upholstery (RAU). leather upholstery. I previously installed leather upholstery on six other bucket seats.
They do have some wrinkles that I think will go away with use.
The changes from the OE upholstery that RAU made are
1 the original had cloth pockets that house hardened steel listing rods, which get hogged ringed to the listing rods, in the seat foam. RAU did not provide the pockets . Instead they attach a paper cord, in place of the steel. The cord can not spread the attaching force, like the rod do.
2 RAU used different J Clips, that attaches the leather to the seat frame. I had to trim them to get them to work? That wasted time.
3. RAU attached the two J Clips, at the back of the bottom upholstery with shorter leather, in place of the OE , longer fabric. I had to cut the stitching, remove the J Clips and sew them back on in a reversed position, for it to fit.
he third photo shows the OE J Clips that attach to the cast aluminum (or magnesium ) upper seat frame. I had to cut the RAU straight JClips, to match the OE for it to attach.
The photo with two hands, shows the OE Fabric attached JClip and the RAU leather attached clip. I had to remove the RAU CLIP and sew it back on, to fit.do
I believe the RAU product is likely the best available for the LS430. Their response the observations and concerns I raised was MARGINALLY helpful. They did offer me a full refund if I sent the product back. I am happy I bought the RAU product and completed the job. No hard feelings towards RAU on my part.
