Transmission fluid level with dip stick

I checked my transmission fluid level yesterday for the first time in years. I'm fortunate to have an actual dip stick! No leaks as the undercarriage is bone dry. After driving for some time and parking and then checking while running, I noticed the level right between the min and max markings. What should be an approximate amount of fluid to add to get close (but not above) the max mark? I'm thinking 3 but not more than 4 ounces. Does that sound about right?

Difficult to say an exact amount. I would maybe start with between 1/8 to 1/4 a quart and then recheck from there

Added 3 ounces. Will recheck. I’m lucky I have a dipstick. Those with a sealed unit are in the dark.

Put in a half quart and don't worry about it. Sometimes a little over is good, especially when starting on a steep drive way.

The 3 ounces I put in still leaves my dip stick somewhat shy of full. I'm planning on leaving it, as my feelings are, better slightly under than overfilling an older car. Fluid didn't look that bad either.
