There is no cheap way to do this. Parts are not expensive.

Ahh, but there is...
Buy the necessary parts and tackle the job yourself eliminating the high cost of labor.
This might be a good topic for a new poll thread. How many forum members do the work themselves vs paying a dealer or indy shop...?

Hey Bocatrip,

Last summer I replaced my timing belt and cam seals on my 430. I do have a thread on my journey working on it. (This is the link to the post) https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...-my-ls430.html
It took me a couple of weeks to do it because I had other things going on during that time. If you are consistent and patient, I would say 2-5 days if you worked on it straight and depending on your pace.
It might not be perfect due it being my first post on this site at the time. If you have any questions on it, please feel free to ask and I'll try my best to respond and help out.

Hey TwentyMax. Thanks so much for your very extensive and detailed timing belt replacement thread. Unfortunately, the days of my undertaking such a task are long gone. Good for you, and It should be quite helpful to any forum members who are mechanically inclined. I will be leaving the job to a qualified shop familiar with our engines. Great thread!

The belt by itself was in the shape expected (not chewed up by ready to change) but the WP was leaking so it was time to do the service. While they had it went ahead and replaced a worn wheel bearing (fairly expensive repair) but the results completely restored the totally quiet cabin.

Hope not to have any further items for a couple of years…..

If only 1 wheel bearing hub was replaced it won't be long before other side will need it also. It is extremely easy to replace and took about same amount of time as pulling tire off and on with same complexity. I bought 2 for around $70 for pair (not Lexus) and work perfect.
