Default OE strut assemblies?

Anyone know where to purchase oem strut assemblies for a 91? Called a dealer and they quoted me 1300 for parts, but I've heard KYB is the oe manufacturer but I can only find struts only for those. Can only find aftermarket assemblies online.

The LS400 does not use a strut system, it's a shock absorber (aka damper) & coil spring in conjunction with the double wishbone independent suspension. A McPherson strut is a unified unit and a different type of component. But commonly mixed up

KYB makes a shock for the car. KYB #341159 & #341269. Those shocks should be very similar to the unit that came with the car because KYB is also the manufacturer for the Lexus shock absorber with the Lexus stamp on it. We don't know if they are manufactured to identical standards or if costs are cut - but the Excel-G has proven itself over the years with the community. Most people (myself included) re-used the original springs presuming they're still in good health.

You also want to replace the shock mounts and boot (AKA insulator) while you're doing this job. Go Lexus OEM with these, I used KYB aftermarket mounts for my front suspension and they both completely failed in 13,000 miles.

This all being said - there are coilover kits which are sold as a package. There are a variety of brands out there who make one.
