1999 Ls400 transmission mount replacement question
Hello all, I have a question revolving around replacing the transmission mount. How do you jack up the transmission and how high do you do it? I've seen most people using wood blocks and jacking up the transmission on the transmission pan. I've also heard that you should never jack up the transmission by the pan. The job seems simple but i'm generally worried about jacking up the transmission and possibly causing damage. Any help is much appreciated.
you don't need to jack "up" the trans; you just need to hold it in place while you remove the mount. a jack with a wood block square against the pan works best and is how i did it. of course you need to make sure the pressure is distributed/spread across the pan so you don't dent/deform it!
hard to see but i used a 2x4 almost the length of the pan to hold the trans up with the jack: [/QUOTE]
