Can someone please suggest a fix for my 95-97 ls400 transmission. This is the second transmission that I have snapped the cable end off of trying to drop it out of the car in the wrecking yard. It is hard to force the cable down the firewall after disconnecting from Bracket and even when you do clear the cable it still has a big chance of getting caught up, causing the end to snap right under the metal piece. Does anyone have a suggestion of a fix for this because I have been parked for months with a leaking transmission right out of the hole where the pressure cable housing is on the side of the trans. Does anybody think plastic welding will work to bring those back together? I am just looking for a solution that’s permanent where I can just install the trans without having leaking problems. I know how to put the cable back onto the bracket at the right amount so it will shift properly I just can’t seem to find a fix for the housing where it’s snapped.
a gasket sealant wouldn’t work for that I do not think. It’s hard plastic on both ends and it’s a tube that goes inside a outer tube with the metal ring on top of that. I assume it’s just the housing that you would take off if you were replacing the cable, and to replace the whole cable you just remove the pan then disconnect the cable end inside of the trans by the filter, but I have not been able to find the part online to purchase I have been looking for 3 months. I found the part number which I will try to find and post again, but this part has been very hard to find. I have broken 2 of these with both of the transmissions that I removed. Transmission jacks are not allowed in the wrecking yard so both times i Pried the trans from the engine and it fell , that cable caught onto something then snapped right there. Can anyone suggest a way I can fix this without trying epoxy??
