LS400 1999 Build Suggestions
Hi,
I'm excited to be here. I just purchased my first Lexus it's (I believe) Mystic Gold ls400 1999 with 211k miles. I found it on craigslist for $1500 and could not believe it. I took a look at it and it was in almost perfect condition accompanied by at least 30 pages of pdf file with extensive service records and replacements (over 5k in the last 6 months). So I did what any sensible human being would and bought and ran before the changed his mind. As soon as I saw the car I new I wanted to go the VIP route. I am having trouble finding barely any body kits for it online. The ones I've found seem to be kinda cheep and really ugly in my opinion so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on body kits that you think are nice and where to find them. I also would like to know what kind of Coilovers to get that will get me a nice low fit but not so low that I'm scraping on every bump and that won't sacrifice the ride too much. I absolutely love the stock ride, but you know, "need more low". I'm really not too educated on car modifications, but I do and have always changed my own oil, spark plugs and the occasional starter. So I know the basics of working on cars. I was also wonder where to get VIP style interior gear like, cushions, seat covers, curtains and over things that are kinda staples of the VIP aesthetic. Any other suggestions for modifications are greatly welcome and I'd just like to say I'm proud to be a part of your group as a fellow Lexus owner.
Thank you all for you time and suggestions,
Hoopty

welcome and you will not find a lot of VIP styled car here.
when I was into this style I frequented VIPStyleCars.com but the forums have been inactive for awhile. it should still be a good resource for ideas.
to answer some of your questions:
tasteful body kits will likely only be found in japan, which means they will need to be imported in. I find lip kits can do a decent job without breaking the bank.
coilovers are everywhere so it depends on how low you want to go, and the final look.
I would always take care of the basic maintenance first before modding.
it makes no sense to have a nice looking car with sub-par drivability and dependability, which is usually overlooked.
