Default Mass air flow

Hi Guys!
1992 Lexus ls400 102000 miles.
So I ordered a Mass air flow sensor matching part numbers. The one on my vehicle has no thin wires. All the ones I seen on line did. Looks exactly the same except for the I think 2 fine wires
Any thoughts?

Where did you buy the sensor? What brand?

What is the difference between the 24 code and the 31 code for CEL
Hopping replacing the mass air flow will fix both. Hopefull. Thoughts? Thank you.

The code 24 is for the Intake Air Temp sensor which is located inside the Air Flow Meter and can't be changed by itself. The whole AFM needs to be changed. That is why you are getting the code 31 for the AFM signal.
Yes, changing it will get rid of both codes.

Our gen1 Lexus do not use hot-wire or film MAFs like that at all. Ours are completely different, based on a Karman vortex counter. More details in an older post of mine at:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...l#post10206613

I guess it is possible for someone to engineer a hot-wire MAF that - although being completely different in how it measures air flow - would plug in and interface electrically sufficiently well. But I would not try to be a pioneer in using such a part. If you do try it and it works, please report back.

Also, I know you did not ask for diagnosis help, but did you try running the car with the AFM unplugged? It should run pretty well like that. If it does not, it means you have a problem other than the AFM to fix.
