Smile 90K/120K service advice.

Thought a new thread might be a better place for this question soooooo...

The car's 90K service is coming up. How far can/should I go before changing the timing belt? Then I think a lot is due around 120K. How imperative and what are the things I should make sure to take care of then?

I had the timing belt and water pump changed on my 93 LS at 90K service. The front/rear brake pads also were changed for the first time.

hi,
i have a '92 with 93K and am not going to change it til 120k or so-- it's a non-interference engine, which means if it does break, the worst that's going to happen is the car dies NOT expensive engine damage. you can confimr the non-interference engine at gates.com and search for the vehicle.

many cars specify 100k or so as the recommended time to change, and car makers being conservative, that figure seems conservative as well. additionally, in a lot of cars sold in CA, the state of CA specified that the belt should last until 120k and so it will say that in the manual for a CA car (like my Miata), but it's the SAME BELT as on the 49 state car. so there, they are specifying 120k.

just some info to guide.

JC
