Default Suggested suspension parts replacement

2000 platinum, 180K. I bought this car and it’s fine at the start, then the front brakes started shaking Everytime I brake, rotors as many said. But ever since then the front suspension takes bumps so bad, to the point I feel it in the steering column and it shakes like mad,My 330K LS drove way smoother than this one..... anyways does anyone have any suggestions on what I could replace in order to make for a more smooth cushion like ride that I think most of us desire here.... thanks.

strut rod bushings, control arms, ball joints, and sway bar bushing (toyota calls this bush, stabilizer

the sway bars are by far the easiest and cheapest to replace

Stroock, thanks for the input. I’m probably gonna do the sway bar and control arms first. Kind of on a budget of 500$

not that it really helps, but if you only have $500 to spend you shouldn't have bought a car with such expensive parts lol

Were the rotors ever resurfaced or replaced?

Worn strut rod bushing may be causing most of the problem. I had new OEM strut rods and bushings installed on the 2000 LS400 Platinum I drove for around 11 years and all the horrible vibrations completely vanished. The bushings are usually worn and causing vibration and lack of stability in high winds by 75,000 miles more or less. When I had my 2000, it didn't seem that many mechanics understood this issue.

Lol, i mean as in terms of what I want to spend at the moment, 500 won’t obviously cover it all but eventually

I vote with Jim (Kansas) on the strut rod bushings, I bought a pair from bradland a couple of months ago and had them installed (and mine were not even beat to death) and it made my LS drive like a new one... amazing..

Default Update

I had previously posted on a shake I had when breaking.... new rotors and tires fixed the problem or so I thought..... it’s back, and worse. Only happens when breaking and the steering wheel and front driver side shake. Ball joints and control arms look good. Shocks have been blown for awhile so Ik its nothing new on that part, but the tie rod is very loose, could that cause the front end to shake very bad???

Yeah tie rod will do that, the wheel is literally steering left and right when you're braking if it has play in it. Don't drive with bad tie rods, they get loose they fail and you crash

If the driver's side fails it could pull you into oncoming traffic. Have someone look at it right away!
