Preventive maintenance on 98 LS400 with 230k miles
So its been 11k miles since I bought the car and I am extremely pleased so far for the car's age. I have added the maintenance records done myself and the previous owner and please let me know what are the preventive measures I could carry on this to still make it strong. This car is going to be my daily drive for quite sometime so can't get myself stranded in this small town.
Some of the known yet PENDING are
ECU Capacitor replacement - Not much prone in 98 but to be
222k, 07/2018 - Engine Oil replaced
223k, 08/2018 - Brake Booster replaced, Brake fluid flush and replaced, Transmission and Differential fluid replaced
224k 10/2018 - Engine Oil, Filter and Fuel Filter, Air Filter, Cabin Air Filter
224k 11/2018 - Hoods. Painted
231k 02/2018 - PS Pump, Hose (Reservoir to PS Pump) replaced
232k 02/2019 - Engine Splash Guard and Engine Oil and Filter.
232k 02/2019 - UPDATED
[Scheduled] 233k 03/2019 - Brembo Rotors and Akebono Brake Pads (F&R), Driver Side inner tie rod (Lexus OE).
and other records

Starter motors are a common failure point, that certainly can leave you stranded. That was just replaced so that's probably the biggest thing that's a known issue.
Front strut bars fix a "clunk" that is common, tighten up the whole front end and increase steering\stability
Anything that's rubber in the suspension that hasn't been replaced already
You've already done fluids, VVTi, valves and ball joints.
It looks like a lot of work looks like it's already been done, presuming the previous owner actually did all of that. And judging by how meticulous that list is, I'd say it's likely that they did.
Maybe I'm missing it, but was the differential fluid changed? I don't see that listed. I think that it's usually part of the major service interval. IIRC every 20-30k miles, I'd have to look at the manual.

I thought I was proactive, but this tranny has been pampered. One thing I didn't see in your maintenance list was the fan bearing assembly. It is probably close to going bad on your mileage. Not that you couldn't go some miles after it starts making noise.

I'm wondering why the previous owner did the timing belt at 87k miles, and then again at 117k miles...
Very well maintained car though!

Most likely due to failed tensioner pulley that wasn’t replaced the first time. Could have also been a failed water pump or gasket though.

I started to maintain my daughters 1998 Toyota 4runner and grabbed all the jumbled receipts in her glove compartment. Found out she had replaced the timing belt with only 30k miles between changes. People just don't keep records anymore. They trust the shops that do their maintenance to keep track of that. Wouldn't surprise me at all that the shop that did her second belt, parked it in their back lot all day long and made an easy $600.

So I have found PS leak but not sure where it originates so I have uploaded some videos and let me know your comments
I have white smoke blowing up for the past 1000 miles or so. I wasn't sure it was the weather or anything but not seems the PS leak. So trying to confirm this
Videos
Pics of reservoir leak
Tutorial https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...ls400-s-2.html
PS Seal Kit 04446-30173 (not sure whether 98 LS also follows the same PN no)
Catalytic converter failing?
Driver Side
Passenger side
O2 sensor readings
Also I have very heavy front vibration on braking. From the driver side, my mechanic did suggest that might possibly an seized caliper not wrapped rotor but did anyone face such in LS400 previously? I have seldom read any such in the forum so would love to hear on the rebuilding procedure as well.

It looks like the hose between the reservoir and pump has been replaced before and this is why its leaking. The original OEM hose has a metric ID. Whoever replaced it bought a short section of hose at a local parts store with an inch measurement so the fit is not exact. Also the pump moves slightly with the engine and aging motor mounts. This causes the hose to flex and eventually crack as it ages. Buy the OEM hose, it's not cheap, and use oem clamps.

So you're suspecting hose instead of the pump?

Hose- 4434850010 (Approx $40)
Clamps-90467-21005 (Approx $3 ea)
If the hose was replaced with OEM it's prob just old and cracking from age and movement.
You really need to get underneath with a good light to see what's actually leaking...

Can someone take a look into this and can guide me in source of the leak on the oil pan?
I know my PS pump is leaking from reservoir to PS pump but not sure whether the same leaks would surface over here as well,
