Default 1998 seats in a 96

I have a set of seats out of a 98 ls400 available to purchase right now, but I want to make sure they will fit in my 96 before I get them. Main thing is that I would have to pull them myself so I don't want to spend the time if it is a hard no

I apologize if this question has been asked before, I was not able to find it in my quick search so I decided to post.

Thanks in advance!

The 97 Coach and 98+ had the integrated side seat air bags, there will be a connector for those. The 98+ owners may have info on the other electrical seat connectors.

Different electrical connectors but I have heard of somebody splicing on an older connector and everything but a couple buttons worked.

I was wondering, do gen 1 back seats fit nicely into gen 2s? What about the other way around?

At this point I will only be doing the back seats and do the fronts as I find them. Also the car was recently in an accident so my uncle has decided to sell it and it looks like I will be the first in line to buy it. The damage is only the headlight and fender which I will be able to replace myself and the frame doesn't look bent so it should not be too difficult of a job for me to tackle. So the seats are being postponed until that point.
