power inconsistency (peddle)
Hello all,
wondering if someone can help me locate an issue.
when my car is running very well, my foot is on a firm gas peddle and power is quickly responsive to foot pressure. Other times, my foot is on a looser/softer gas peddle and power is slow to respond. Very noticeable difference between the two circumstances.
Here is what is NOT the problem (replaced with OEM already):
ECU, rotors(2), caps(2), plugs, wires, MAFsensor, coolant temp sensor, timing belt, coils(2), ignitors(2), CATS(2), CAT(@ y-pipe), transmission speed sensor, carbon clean-out procedure performed, vacuum leaks non-existent (verified mineral oil procedure), air filter replaced.
thank you all.

Firstly we need to know what car you have. What year? I find it strange that the feeling of the pedal changes.points to tps, cable and butterfly assembly.
I hope you didn't replace all that stuff for this problem alone because it's probably just the cable or throttle assembly or sensor. if it's a first Gen ls400.

i purchased it 3 years ago. has 130k on it. Love it!
i replaced all those things trying to chase down a "fishbite" responce the car was having while under load only...and mainly uphill and around 2700. that problem finally SOLVED with the last replacement being the MAF...completely solved that problem. the car runs very very well now. but would like to know about this last issue with power response inconsistency.
more information i can add is that the peddle functions just fine. Its somethings else under the hood.
my thoughts:
1) ground issue? 2) TPS failing? 3) transmission not getting power to the wheels the way it should sometimes?
if she were a human with this condition, i'd say that in the first example she's "horny" and quick to responde, and in the second example she's just going through the motions and would rather be doing something else. make sense?
thanks again.

To start. I would remove and inspect all the vacuum hoses for cracks and brittle ends, soak decent hoses in armor all, let set, reinstall with new clamps. Replace bad vacuum hoses with OEM or 1/2" rubber fuel line. If that doesn't improve response I would look at the color of the transmission fluid, if it's brown, gray, black. I would follow the transmission flush procedure, and not try to crack the pan open. Use the cooling lines. This flush can get a bit pricey. Use Type T-IV synthetic or compatible ONLY. Big bad problems if you put anything else in the tranny. This is from my personal experience of the same not as horny experience.
