Aftermarket radio
im going to replace the stock radio because the backlights that light up all the buttons at night burnt out. If I bought an aftermarket kit like pioneer would I get the ability to set the tones of the sound? Like how the stock has the individual buttons, bass, treble, fader etc. is that possible with aftermarket or only the stock system, thanks!

I replaced mine with a dual din Pioneer last summer and am so happy that I did it. Easiest way to add modern conveniences to a soon to be classic. There is a EQ analyzer that features manual and preset adjustments for you to fiddle with.
I recall reading other posts where the user was no longer able to use the subwoofer amp after converting to a after-market deck. I didn't have this issue, luckily my installer got it to work.

Ive had a pioneer 7 inch screen in my 99 LS for years, the equalizer built in to the aftermarket radio should function as long as it is wired up properly, with a good quality harness adapter. My installer got the factory sub to work with the addition of a small aftermarket amp ($80) that fit in the factory amp location under the passenger seat. It sounded great until the factory subwoofer started coming apart.

Factory Radio Service can replace your back light bulbs and install an aux-in that allows you to stream whatever you want from your phone. Here's a thread about what they did for the Nak head unit in the 2000 LS400 I used to have: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...000-ls400.html
I later replaced the Nak head unit with a double-DIN Kenword due the the Nak's right channel dying and not finding anyone to fix it. The Kenword was very nice but I would have rather kept using the OEM head unit.
Here a post about my having the Nak head unit replaced by the Kenwood using the Nak amp and all the Nak speakers: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...ml#post8219167

Everything works, including sub. I'm probably going to go ahead and replace all the speakers soonish since they're starting to show their age. I had to replace the front pair because the driver door speaker blew, and there's a big difference in sound quality front to back now. And EQ balancing is hard.

I have a good working factory Pioneer head unit and factory amp that I dont need, PM me if you are interested in purchasing it. I've also added an AUX input to it that has replaced the functionality of the tape deck (set to tape mode to play AUX)

Thank you for the offer but I already picked one up today in Houston! Wish I would have saw this earlier. Installing aux seems hard but there’s lots of threads about it.
