Wrecked, hood latch what’s broke???
Hit a deer, and now I can’t open the hood without someone pulling the interior release while I pull it up, it doesn’t pop up alone. What’s broke? I don’t think it’s the wire running from the release handle to the release on the front of car, maybe the catch on the grill???

Hard to tell from just the picture of the release. They do get sticky and unresponsive after a while, even if you don't hit a deer. Sorry for your accident.
I would clean that off and lube it up and then work the interior cable a few times to make sure you've got good/smooth movement with no catches...
Then it's a matter of working with the hood to see if something is now bent and catching on something. Then bend it back out so it can freely pop up.
Are you hood struts strong enough? Have you replaced them recently?
