Hello All,

Well, finally after a month of ownership I had the 90,000 mile service+ (plus means a a couple extra parts replaced outside normal TB Kit) done today. WP, TB, T-STAT, idler pulleys. TB/SBELT tensioners, crankshaft seal, coolant flush/fill.

What a relief as I knew my TB was on borrowed time. Here are a few pix of my TB. 99.99% sure it was never changed. No teeth were missing, but lots and lots of horizontal (cross-ways) cracks.

All things considered it does not look too bad, but mine was a SoCal car its whole life, which I'm sure didn't hurt its longevity.

I used all Lexus parts and my total price was $1,100.

If anybody needs an honest, fair priced mechanic in the N. Phoenix/Cave Creek/Anthem area let me know. No affiliation other than a vary happy customer.

Eddie

Wow, you sure are on borrowed time as it looks pretty bad. Last year, I've changed the timing belt, water pump, tensioner & serpentine belt on my 2000 LS400 w/ only 45K miles too. The serpentine belt had lots of small cracks under the grooves but the timing belt was in pristine, like new condition. Nevertheless, I felt it was the right thing to do & I have been able to sleep better at night. Well done.

mine looked exactly the same at 131k, never replaced, socal car.
I don't think it would break but usually it's the idler and tensioner bearings that seize that take the belt with it!

I used to live in Scottsdale and took mine to a place called Tempe Imports in Tempe, AZ. He charged me 400 for labor to do the TB/WP, Cam and Crank seals after I supplied the Aisin TB/WP kit.

He eventually got it right but I think it was his first time doing an LS400. Now that he's done mine, he should be more familiar lol.

What Scotty Kilmer on youtube says.He has never advertised,he gets customers by word of mouth. This is a perfect example. My Dad said one happy customer brought him 3 sales, one unhappy customer cost him 10 sales.
