Just picked up a 98 LS400 17k Miles
Just bought a black cherry/Grey 98 LS400...Very excited, very lucky for the mileage..I couldnt believe it, i asked them who owned the car before, it was owned by a 59 year old doctor with six other cars, so this car was never driven. It doesnt have the nakamichi or navigation, but its got enough for me.
Again very excited!!

You have one great car!! WOW only 17k. You have a Brand New Car....You are going to love it. Trust me, driving to the store or anywhere for that matter will never be the same.
I bought my 98 with 24k on it and have loved every minute. I've have it for 10 months and already put 15k on it. It really is a Dream Car.
Well Congratulations and Enjoy it.
Jerry
PS I dont know for how long you have been reading CL but if you just started keep reading. You will find ALL kinds of great info. If you want do yourself the favor of doing a search under my Name HORTA. You will find some good info for you 98.
Take some pictures when you get time...

Congrats !
I too bought 95 LS400 last week from dealership It was the only LS400 available in the entire state.
Mine has 83K miles (133.000 Kms) and exterior/interior colours are exacly the same as Horta's.
PS:
second-hand Lexuses are 2-3 times more expensive here than in US
1998 LS400 70-85K $aud (40-49K $US)

MQM,
Congrats, that was a great find. I can relate to how you feel. I picked up a '99 with 20k back in February. It was on the lot of a Benz dealer. The story was that it was some old guy's(like 80) winter car down in Florida. He got it back up here to the North to trade in on a new Benz. His loss, this is a wonderful car. I had to have it as soon as I test drove it.
After I bought it, I did bring it over to the Lexus dealer and had them look up the maintenance history. It was pretty clean. I also had the differential and transmissions fluids changed out shortly after I got it. Even though the car had relative no miles, the fluids were stiill 3-4 years old and I wondered about their effectiveness.
Enjoy the ride..

Hey MQM
I agree take it to the dealer to be serviced. I imidiatly took it if and had the 30k service done even though it only had 24k miles. Why the 30k service mainly because all the fluid were flushed out sence they were so old. At the same time if there are ANY imperfection of the car this is the time to hit the dealer up for warrenty repairs.

I'm also looking for '98-'00 LS400
I spot a few good deal on www.recycler.com. One '98 LS400 with only 18M and NAVI system is asking for $21K. One '99 LS400 with NAVI system (don't know milage) is asking for $22k.
What should I looking for when I test drive LS400? Any particuler problems I need to watch for?
Appreciate your help.

is that right?!!!!! A '98 LS400 with only 18k miles can be picked up for around 20 grands? WOW, that's amazingly good If that's the case, then my next car might as well be an LS400 of that vintage! But that's going to be in a while, and so the price will drop even more That's great.
