The Air cleaner housing on 1998-2000 LS400 (earlier?) incorporates a thick steel plate for noise attenuation.

The author reasoned that if steel was good, then Lead's greater density would prove better.

Said plate is held inplace with 2 shoulder screws which I .loosened, and removed metal.plate.

Next, I taped screws in position and poured molten lead into the cavity recently vacated by the evicted metal plate.

Significantly heavier, with no hollow sound.

The housing assembly feels twice as heavy now...with improved dampening.

The molten Lead bonds directly with plastic air cleaner housing so improved intake system noise attenuation.
