Default Bigger Alternator

Do you guys know what kind of Alternators are out there for a 93 LS, I'm looking for a high amp Alternator because my ampiliers for my subwoofers are draining my battery very often and I plan on taking more power when I add Tv's. I saw some guy once in cardomain.com that said he had a wrangler alternator, but I've asked around in a few local shops and they've found nothing. So if anyone can help me find one it would be greatly appreciatted.

Go into a limousine alternator place in your area and ask for your current one to be rebuild for higher power. I have 180amps right now. the stock one is 100.

just to bump this old thread, if I go with a bigger high amp alternator, do I need to change the wires or anything else?

this is the first old (damn, 8 years....before my time even lol) thread that was resurrected for a PURPOSE!

yes, you'll want to upgrade your grounding cables at the very least.

Haha, yeah..its an old thread...but better than making a new one thread

So, by ground you mean like just the battery ground? the rest can be stock? Or whatever ground I can find on the engine bay, and just change it to a bigger wire?

I plan on upgrading mine when I change my power steering pump (since it was exposed already), because I might run a system and an air suspension system too (both in the wayyy distant future, but need to do the ps pump soon). Is it required to do so when your running these things?

thank you for the replies people!!!

Damn, just on subject for what I need. My alternator is struggling real hard to keep up with my sub, I've actually stopped listening to music till I can find a suitable upgrade. My Civic had a 220Amp alt in it that was great, but the company I got it from doesn't make them for an LS

Try looking up Mean Green and see if they make one for the LS. They make a 300 amp that is popular with landcruiser owners. Also, hitachi makes a 300 that is a direct replacement for some alternators used by toyota. Failing that, find your friendly neighborhood alternator shop and have them rebuild yours to whatever spec you want. If you go to a high output alternator I would run stereo amps etc off an independat fuse block supplied by heavier than stock, ie 00 weld cable, and run 12g wire to supply each componant and a 12g ground.
