The #2 return line on mine is leaking. Called around and was told that there were 8 left in the country. Now 7 since I ordered one. These factory parts for the PS system are going to be rare soon. If you intend to keep yours and want the genuine parts better get these hoses!

I just checked Partsouq and they show 0 available. Hate when this happens - I don't need it but don't want to be without when I do.

I've got other issues now. I buggered up the oil seal when rebuilding the pump (I think cause I didn't lube it before pounding the shaft in). Ordered a new one from LexusPartsNow and just got an e-mail saying it's unavailable and no ETA when one will be available.

That's yet expected now that our cars at at this age. The local Lexus dealer is checking some of the other PS return line availability. I suspect we'll be left with using the 9.5mm hoses. Did find this 10mm ID hose:

Wont coolant hoses soften up and weaken with exposure to the PS fluid?

Just buy 1 or 2 foot of bulk .375" fuel/oil hose from any auto parts store. 10mm hose is not available in bulk in the USA so it will be tight. 3/8"(.375) = 9.52MM.
Should be less than $5 per foot.

This filter says it will fit our cars.Im seeing them online, various manufacturers saying 3/8ths-10mm.Think thats really going to make any difference?

https://plews-edelmann.opticatonline...=usa&ctx_iam=1

When this innovative, newly designed filter is installed in the return line, it filters out metal particles and rubber flakes, which can naturally occur in a power steering system. When installed with a new pump and hose, along with a proper flush, this filter will help eliminate pump warranties and keep the system working trouble free for many years to come!

Though Im sure if you are OCD enough you could find a manufacturer to apply a Nasa ceramic/titanium coating, have it laser cut to 10mm,have it laminar flow tested, run it on a dyno and would only cost 1500 dollars.I should do a thread on that.....

The LS400 PS already has 2 filters. One at the bottom of the reservoir and another in the PPS solenoid which fits into the rack close to the pinion.
Adding a third filter isn't a bad idea but it could eventually clog and starve the system of fluid.

I've been using the ArmorMark 50063 3/8" (9.5mm) fuel line rubber hose for the return line for over 6 years & it's perfectly fine. Pepboys carries it for only $1 something per linear foot. Just coat the inside w/ ps fluid then the metal tube will slide right in.

Sadly, the majority of those "Failures" is nothing more than the screen becoming clogged which means it's doing it's job.
The problem is the owner not keeping the screen clean.

Any Toyota dealer should carry it. Part number in the photo is correct.
