'99 DRL+High Beam LED
Hey all,
Recently just picked me up a clean '99, about 2 years after my '95 crapped out on me. Haven't done much yet except some interior light changes and some sounds, but one thing that's bugging me is the stock yellowish looking DRL/High Beams... I've search the forums and google about either doing HID's or LED's done to it, most searches I found were getting or disabling drl's on a '98 and other posts are on other Lexus models, which I'm not 100% sure would work the '99 LS's.
So has anyone with a '99 maybe even a '00? Installed HID's to their drl/high beams? I had an extra 9005 hid kit and when I looked under the hood, the back cover that you twist off for the drl/high beams only has a plug connector, no hole to run the HID wire through (normally other cars have some rubber that allows wires to run through the back case to connect to the light... which is where I think a lot of posts on other models might not work with the '99s) and I'm not wanting to leave that cover off in case of moisture getting in. After searching I realized I needed a module any way which I didn't have.
So I thought maybe the LED route (where I live I have absolutely no reason to ever run high beams). For those running LED's what brand and bulb watt are you all using? Been searching for some and reviews have been hit or miss (mostly not bright enough, flickering, stopped working etc...).
So if you guys can help me out on some tips for putting either the HID's to run on the drl/high beams since I have an extra kit lying around, or if you're running the LED which brand and what watt you used/should be used.
Thanks!

You don't want HIDs in your highbeam because they take time to warm up and usually when you use highbeams, its to flash or for a quick look. I bought LEDs for my highbeams off The Retrofit Source and they're awesome.

Thanks man. I checked out the Retrofit Source, was it the 9005 Morimoto 2stroke that you got? Happen to have any pictures? Just curious on the brightness and color, I've got 8000k low beams and looking to atleast match the color if possible

Don't buy the cheap 9005 LEDs on EBay as they'll flickering on you whenever you applied the brake. I'll stick w/ the stock 60W bulbs as the intention of the DRL is to make other motorists to see you coming so having the yellowish light will serve that purpose. Initially, I also hate the yellowish light but after awhile it's kind of growth on me so it doesn't bother me at all now.
