Yeah, I used the open end.

I think vise grips are going to have to do it. Two of them can't grip the 6-point 12mm wrench I have.

I used some harbor freight vise grips on a JY fan clutch to get those nuts off. All four of the nuts were stripped that bad, but I needed that fan clutch since mine was locked, so I had no choice.

So it WILL work, you just need to bite down hard and squeeze the hell out of those grips onto those nuts.

Just got two of them off after I soaked them in penetrating oil. Sprayed them at midnight and again at like 7am.

MINOR VICTORY.

Now to get the others.... going to take a break and run to the store to get nuts, then should be able to take a fair crack at it when I get back

Since you're going to be down a couple day's at this point anyway I would recommend ordering the nuts from the dealer with the p/n I listed in my first post. They are cheap and have a flange on them. Avoid hardware store nuts if you can. That's a bit shoddy in my opinion.

Gave up on it. The two nuts that are left are so rounded and *****ed that I'm just ordering a pulley.

I already have a spare fan bracket, and the fan clutch is cheap. It's not worth the time anymore at this point.

16371-50020 is the part number I got. Is that correct?

I sure love this car, but damn do I hate working on it.

GOT IT!

Needed a BFH. I got frustrated and started to whack the bolts with a cold chisel and one of them moved. I saw it move juuuust a bit. So I put the belt back on and turned them out after I made them both move with the chisel.

Good to hear you got them off. The BFH works sometimes, but ya gotta watch what you use it on and how frustrated you are. Things bend and break too easy.
Never give up, there's always a way.

The crank pulley is at 0, lined up perfectly.

The cams are NOWHERE NEAR lined up to the marks on the belt. Am I missing something? This car ran perfectly before. I'm only doing this job because the water pump started piddling coolant everywhere and it wasn't drivable.
Old belt or new? The marks on the belt are ONLY used when installing the belt to line everything up. They will never again match up to the marks after the engine is run.

This post meant nothing after you edited yours. Sooooo disregard it.

LOL That's why I edited it. I read further in the tutorial and said "Oh. Old belt. Never mind. Sprocket marks line up. Carry on."

Break time, though. Man turning that balancer is hard work. Even with the plugs out that thing took some force.
