Default Price OK for 2000 LS400?

Hi!

Our dad passed away recently and we are considering selling his 2000 LS400 in the Southern California area. Mileage is 46k and other than a fender bender touch up on the rear bumper, it is in excellent condition. Kelly Blue Book suggests $6k to a private party. Would it sell quickly at that price in the So Cal market? Thanks for your comments!

Welcome to Club Lexus. Sorry to hear of your father's passing.
Going to move this to the LS 400 section so that you can get replies from the LS 400 owners.

One man's "excellent condition" is another man's trash, so it's hard to say for sure without details. But yes: a 2000, that has never seen road salt, with 46K, in genuinely excellent condition, will sell for $6K easily.

low miles certainly warrants the price but from my experience not a lot of people buy cars during the holidays. wait until tax season! $6k is a decent price, if the car is indeed in pristine shape (as it more likely would be at that mileage).

Sorry for your loss. I would think anywhere between $6k - $7.5k would be a fair asking price. If the scratch on the rear bumper is minor, has been touched up, and there is no structural damage behind that, I would not see any issues with such an offer.

It is hard to say without seeing pictures of the car. What color is the exterior and interior, that has a lot to do with the price. I say 6k is on the low side. 8.5k would not be out of this world considering that it only has 46k miles and you say it is in excellent condition.

Thanks everybody for your condolences. Happy New Year!

I had been reading Club Lexus posts for about two months, and when I finally joined in December, I was disappointed to find out that the policy for new members was that they had to be members 30 days and post 30 times before they could use the classifieds.

But, truly, I'm a Lexus and car selling novice and I didn't know what the price would be so I thought it would be valid to ask that question without violating policy.

I did get some PMs from "purchase interested" members and did share pics and service history with them via private email. No purchases in the offing though. Thinking about next steps to take in selling.

I believe yours to be a good deal for potential buyers. I've been searching for an LS430 for a few months, Then a 95 LS400 with 60,000 miles came up for sale at $ 6,000, I paid $ 5,250 and love the car, love the deal.

I am looking for a low miles LS 400 also.
How did you find it?
Was it a private party?
What issues / problems were you looking out for?
I have heard that the starter and the speedometer are problem areas.
