2000 LS400 Trac light blinks after new brake pads!
Hi everyone,
I have spent numerous hours searching on this forum for my issue without any luck to my problem. I just replaced all the suspension parts on my 2000 LS400 along with the front brake pads. I didn't check to see if I had to remove the negative battery cable or not before I started the job. Therefore, when I was done, I took the car for a test drive and the TRAC light blinked and turned off. Also when I came to a stop the brake pedal gave me a little jerk as if the anti lock was working. Neither the ABS/ check engine or TRAC light stay on, the TRAC light comes on only when I am stopped and it is just a blink. Is it something that I have to take it to the dealer for them to erase or is it something that I can do on my end.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Albert

X2 what Jaaa says. And double check things like ABS sensor wires and connections, do these newer cars have brake pad sensors? Did you do anything with the brake fluid? Could be air in the system. Trac is part of the brake system, if its complaining and it happened after doing brakes you did something to make it complain. Now you need to read codes, and if that shows nothing you need a top end scan tool not just a code reader, to get in and run the system and see what is going on.

Thanks for your advice, I think there might be air in the system. The fluid is same and at the correct level. I will get someone to press on the brake pedal so I can bleed the system to remove any air.

And with Trac and ABS it can be a bit more complicated than just normal bleeding. There is a procedure to bleed the abs unit and the Trac system. I only have the old gen 1 information, you would need the info for your year of LS.

my 98 has the brake pad sensors, so i would imagine 00's do as well. But your brake wear notification light would come on, not your trac light.
so are VSC & TRAC the same thing? my 98 has VSC

When I replaced the suspension parts I didn't have any lights on the dash on. My 2000 has the wear sensor on the right tire only.

There should be two sensors one on the front one on the back I just did the brakes on my 99 LS400 you have to be very careful when putting the little sensors back into brake pad
