Default lowering a 92 ls400 and replace wheels

Hey,
first of I really got to say the people in this forum are great, saved me 700 bucks when my ac backlight display went out, lexus dealer said I had to pay 700, with everyones advice in here and some other people I fixed it myself for 21 bucks. dang lexus dealers. Anywaz my next project is I want to lower my car, and change the wheels. Currently it has factory alloy wheels. I was wondering I really don't want to change the feel of the car, because it awesome, but I do want to change the look. What can I do that won't affect the cars ride or feel, but be able to lower it and what size rims should I get? Some people have told me the car won't feel the same if I lower it, or if I put low profile tires on the car.

Default Same situation with my 90 LS 400

From researching many posts on this board over several months the conclusion seems to be Eibach Pro Kit lowering springs (about 1" front & rear) matched with Tokico struts-this combo seems to come closest to factory ride with upgraded handling. Can't tell you from personal experience since i own the items above but i'm waiting to pickup a set of LS 430 17" alloy wheels and tires to replace my stock 15"-i want to do it all in one shot and cruise into heaven (fingers crossed) springs are about 270.00 delivered, struts run about 270.00-320.00.C an't wait till i hit the road

Here is my '94 LS400, I used the '02 LS430 17x 7.5 rims.

I feel the ride is just fine, compared to the OE 16". I do have the air suspension though. I wanted a factory look, although updated and these wheels really do it.

Hey,
gottahaveit2, nice pic. I was planning on these wheels. Do you think the following rim would look good on a 92 lexus ls400 (or anyone)? and does anyone know what's the difference between these tires prices? thanx for all your help

Cool thanks, one more question

Thanks everyone,
I love this lexus forum, everything I wanted to know you guys have helped me out with. Which really helps because the lexus dealer charges an arm and a leg for anything. Anywaz I ordered my tires and wheels altogether, which I got from tire rack for $1184. The tires are 235/45HR-17 Yokohama Avid H4, but now I want to lower the car I was thinking the eibach pro kit which lowers it 1" but the guy at tire rack told me I might have to do a fender lip roll in the front of the car. I really just want to drop the back of the car, but I don't think that possible, right ? Anywaz, Does anyone have this configuration, or know if I have to get this done or not without doing the fender lip roll? thanx. oh forget the wheels are 17x8

I will submit this as a new thread.

I have a 2" drop with 1993 16" wheels and have no fender rub. They are 225/55/16."

1" should be no problem, unless you're going with really wide tires. Someone here will have an answer.

It doesn't seem right to have only the front springs lowered and the rear stock. Seems like it could be a handling problem. I'd say keep everything similar.

gottahaveit2, you have one cool ride i hope to get mine (94) to look like that. those 02 alloys are just the ones i'm looking for, with those and a billet grill and a little lowering i should be right in the ball park. i love the factory look on your car. NEOGEO

Yes all stock but since then I have adjusted the threaded rods on the air suspension and dropped it down just a bit. I could go a bit more but it looks good and rides great - excellent.
