1998 LS400 24F VS 27F battery
Hi all,
My 1998 LS400's battery is starting to wear out at a little over 3 years old.
Currently have a 24F. I can buy an exact replacement 24F for $130+ or a 27F for $85 at Costco.
Does anybody know of the 27F fits without any trouble?
Thanks!

Be careful with battery heights. I've seen battery terminals dimple a hood of a MB 450SL. Must have been a pretty good electrical short burnout.

I just put a group 24 battery in mine. The previous, smaller group 35 lasted over 7 years. I dont think you will benefit from a group 27. Go for the correct size. A 24 Everstart Maxx is $99 at Walmart.

24 will cost $130+ from what I've seen. Would prefer to stay away from Walmart.

I got an Autocraft Gold 24F via AAP/Carquest in January; with the online discount (pretty much always available), it was about $90 total I think. Trick was to purchase online then pick up in store. Easy and huge discounts. Check different stores as Autozone and AAP are always doing this. This is a good JCI battery, btw.
The one I replaced was from costco that failed 1 month after 36 month warranty. I live in a very mild climate and the car is driven on smooth highways for 90% of it's use. The battery failed internally with broken plates. I would never get a Costco battery as, while they may come from a reputable OEM (not sure who it is, maybe even JCI), the compromises to meet Costco specs are not worth it.

I have never heard of an issue relating to the size of the standard LS400 battery. Why buy bigger than needed? Extra weight?
You complain about Walmart but still a want dirt cheap price.... one of those people....
Good luck to you.

Just bought one from Napa three weeks ago for the 92. Group 24 and it was $110 and got a $20 mail in rebate. All the parts stores have their thing. If your looking for a deal hunt around. The best one I ever had was a ac delco, joker lasted 7 years in my Silverado so I ponied up for another of course. The 92 does have a longer battery box but wider I'm not sure.
