Factory bushings over poly. Shocks KYB GR-2 for OEM like ride. There is a mix of discussions on shocks scattered over the years. Bilstein HD's are in ours and I like the ride quality.

Non-OEM KYB were stiffer and contributed to choppy ride on my 1999LS, and they lasted less than 50K miles, went back to OEM ones (made by KYB also, but they are different)

The place where a stronger bushing would be a big plus is the bottom one on the strut, that is a very highly loaded piece. All the bushings on the upper control arm are spherical steel, with rubber covers.

bilstein HD will be stiffer compared to KYB GR-2s (OEM replacements), so bilsteins are best paired with aftermarket lowering springs. OEM shocks are KYB but will be much more expensive!

valex, which non-OEM KYBs did you go with? i've had pretty good experiences with GR-2s, albeit on my non-lexus cars.
