1UZ-FE valve adjustment - target values?
Hello.
I have finally received correct tools from local Toyota (part number changed from one number containing both tools to two separate part numbers both containg one tool) and we are diving in tomorrow.
We did earlier a preliminary check on driver side bank but had to stop because I had received wrong tools from dealer.
The recommended valve clearences cold are:
Intake 0.15–0.25 mm (0.006–0.010 in.)
Exhaust 0.25–0.35 mm (0.010–0.014 in.)
I know that on #7 cylinder my intake valve clearance is around 0.40 mm and there are more that need adjustment.
My question is, what should I aim at: lower clearence value, higher clearance value or anywhere in between?
Typo corrected.

Both Lexus intake and exhaust shim thickness tables appear to use mean clearance values ie. 0.20 mm for intake and 0.30 mm for exhaust as grounds for the tables.
