Default Timing Belt Hack - 1995 LS400

If you're like me, you've got short, clumsy fingers that like to drop bolts and have a hard time lining up belts. When I changed the TB on my LS, I had a hard time keeping the darned thing lined up on the crank sprocket while I got out from under the car and then tried to line it up on the cams. Soon as I touched it, it always fell off. Lot of profanity involved there.
So how'd I solve that? Drumroll please...
WINE!
Two wine bottle corks, to be specific. Install the belt on the crank sprocket as per the instructions of folks wiser than I, and then jam a cork in on either side of it. It'll hold it all day long while you cuss at other things.
Just make sure you remove the corks before you start putting pulleys and covers back on!
Now, if you don't have any wine bottle corks handy, you can buy two bottles at the nearest store. Nothing too sweet, nothing below about 12.5% abv, preferably red. Message me and I'll come over and drink while you work on your car. You can have the corks, then you can drive me home or get me a cab. I'm always happy to help.

hilarious indeed! did you try to do just one cam gear, then crank, then the other cam gear?

I never tried that! The dude on YouTube doing it on a minivan started with the crank and my instructions didn't say so I did the same.
I've never done a TB before. My stomach was lead when I finally started it.
