Cleaning Smog Sensor Pad

I got the smog sensor that's in front of radiator. It's the thing that tells our AC whether to go to "fresh" or "recirculate." I'm looking at the filthy white fiber pad and wondering what would be the best way to clean it. Any suggestions?
