I'm gunna need a starter motor soon... Ive seen on ebay new ones varying in power from 1.4kw to 2.2kw. Is it important which one I get ?(I'd rather the 2.2kw)
And how powerful is the stock one ?
Actually it only needs a solenoid kit... its starting go click click click sometimes...
Ive done 270,000km....

 

All I have ever put in was the solenoid kit on two of my LS's, never a starter... my 99 was done in 2010 and is still going strong

 

If going in that far. Either self rebuild the starter doing a minimum of commutator turn, new brushes, lube or replace bearings, clean, and solenoid. Or a rebuilt or reman starter. I call it a not very good idea to just fix a solenoid for all the work involved getting the starter out of these cars. I have a 90 with a starter that has bearing noises, other wise it works great.

 

It is not that expensive or that much work, it just takes TIME and most of us had that... so to each his own ..if you are paying someone I understand..

 

Does anyone know how powerful the stock starter ? And if I did replace it, you can buy between 1.4kw and 2.2kw... Would I get the most powerful ?
