Quote: Actually I feel the dealers are not priced too bad, considering you also get a loaner car. In my area they quoted a much cheaper price for work than did all of the independants. Also your dealer transmission is a much better risk than going to a national transmission repair outfit.
100% true. I've questioned their pricing a few times. One of the things I always do is price the major parts online and call them out when they're out of line. I saved $$$ almost every time.

The loaners are cool too. That new IS250 is a frickin rocket!

glad you are getting a decent deal out of this and yes i've read here about too much fluid change does "shock" the trans and lead to problems. this is why we always do NOT recommend transmission flushes but rather gradual drain and fill changes during oil changes for example.

another plus here is that a dealership trans change will show up on your maintenance record for your VIN, unlike indy shops where it's completely blind.

and if you think the IS250 is fast, try driving a IS350 (night and day difference)!

Again, make sure they will change the rear main seal also. Take nothing for granted.

I almost had no choice on the fresh fluid going in so frequently. No one seemed to know about the warped pan until Lexus pointed it out after their third attempt at getting it sealed.

Yeah, there's certain value in having them do it. My record shows the trans job, plus the new cooling tubes to the rad, plus the main seal was done at the same time. I made sure the promised two year unlimited mileage warranty on the entire job was on the invoice so it'll show up too.

While I dig the IS250 slot car rocket, I'm so much more comfy in my LS. I'm less than a year to the big six-O, and a luxo sedan is more my style.

Got the main seal done for ~$150 with a two year written warranty. Thanks for the reminder. I was so focused on the f'n trans that it didn't even occur to me to ask.
