Default Unicorn hunting. in search of early build date 1990

so ive had a bunch of these cars. ive got another ucf10 itch and right now im out on the hunt for a 1990 with a early build date (8/1989-9/1989 car) black on grey or tan, in not horrible condition, with a factory NAK stereo system thats WORKING and in good condition for around $2k. ive got a few leads and ive looked at two diffrent cars already but as we all already know this is going to be a hunt. time is not on my side and these cars are over 25 years old now which is boredering on classic car status. think its possible? im in the right place geographically. (central florida) but realistically, what do you think are the chances of finding a early build 90 in original unmolested condition with a NAK system are? should i even try or will i just be running myself in circles on wild goose chases for a ghost car that dosent exist... thoughts?

It might be challenging to find one that specific in your area but I'm sure there's one out there. I would not spend a lot of time on this search.

Curious - why are you looking for the early build date?

Better to try and locate one of the rumored first 400 LS400's that were hand built.

The one I have was made even earlier than that... not the color you want though, it's metallic blue.

revisiting this one..

now its been close to two years and im still chasing one. the problem is that they are just so damn hard to find in ANY condition! lots of 93/94s out there and the occasional 91 shows up once in a blue moon. but when a 90 shows up it is completely clapped out. still hunting and will start updating this thread regularly now that im actively chasing one again.

I got a 1/90 and a 2/90 if memory is correct, too lazy to go look right now. That pic I posted awhile back is the 1/90.

My first LS400 was an 8 car, no NAK and had cloth interior. 15" wheels. I don't find it attractive at all and it's not like there are much of a difference. The earliests LS400 probly won't have NAK, cloth seats and no sun roof and comes with 15" wheels.

1/90 has Nakamichi system, so yes they came with them.

did a state wide scan on craigs today for a 90. not a single one. did a national search and I only found 10 or so. half were abused beyond recognition or they were 65k time capsules with stupid asking prices. checked all major cities. Las Vegas seems to be a safe haven for them. half were out there. also found one in Nebraska that had been sitting in a corn field for eons and one out in the desert that had sand up to the bumpers as well as all in the engine bay that probably hadn't been started in ten years. when the time comes that I find one in the color combo I want, with the options I want, in the condition I want, I have a feeling im going to have to travel to get it or have it shipped here.

Criteria,
*Black/grey leather
OR
*White/grey leather
*factory chrome wheels
*between 160-220k miles
*Nak stereo that works
Air Suspension if I can find one, but isn't critical
all accessories have to work and still be in the car, IE first aid kit, tool kit, spare, books/keys
*build 8/89-12/89
*Original condition, no mods or "upgrades" of any kind
regular wear and tear, slight fading paint and mild cracks in leather OK but no cracked dash or warpage above the air vents..

am I insane???
