Default Diagnostics

I thought I'd try to see what the code was for my check engine light in my 97 LS400. I opened the diagnostics connector, attempted to put a jump between E1 and TE1, but it appears there is no metal connection in the TE1 hole. No wire, no nothing. There is a metal connector for the E1.

Am I doing something wrong? Is it E1 and TE1 in the 97? or something else?

Thanks

Just go to Autozone and have the code pulled for free. Or, if there is no Autozone, try any chain auto part store. Good luck.
