Default spark plug ignition coil boot question

Hi CL. I just had a question regarding the ignition coil boot. I was in the process of replacing the spark plugs when I ran into an issue with the driver side bank. I managed to remove all ignition coils and spark plugs easily on the passenger side but when I attempted the same process on the drivers side bank, all 4 ignition coils refused to come out easily. It seems like the rubber boot is stuck. Have any of you guys had this problem? And if so How'd you get it to come out? On one ignition coil, I pulled a bit too hard and separated the boot from the upper if ignition coil pack. Does that ruin the ignition coil to where I have to replace it or is it okay?

Thanks for your help.

I'm gonna ASSUME you have a 98+ model?

I'm pretty sure the boots are totally separate items which are bought separately. just give them a bit of a twist and they should break free.

correct! the trick is to twist them first before pulling. that breaks the seal.

you can run with a broken boot but debris will find its way into the spark plug hole over time. try to salvage the boot by seeing if it can be glued back into place. i am unsure if the boot part only can be replaced, or it's part of the entire coil assembly.

Yes sorry I forgot to mention it is a 99. Thank you for your guy's replies. Does there need to be any silicone lube spray or wd-40? Someone suggested this somewhere else but I wasn't sure. Thanks again

You can put some silicone on the boot to make it easier to slide out but I would not spray any WD-40 on it.
