Ref : 98 LS 400

Gentlemen,

For a few weeks now..my info display on the dashboard lights up and reads HEADLIGHT LEVELING. I am at a lost here because for the longest I have had the car , never seen this warning.
Hopefully you guys can come to my rescue..I refuse to think of taking the car to the Lexus dealer.
Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Do your headlights aim upward and then downward to straight ahead within a few seconds after turning them on? That is normal operation, but if they don't do that then you have a problem. Search the forum for possible causes.

 

does your car frequently see snow? it is possible your headlight leveling sensors behind the wheels have corroded and have broken off.

this is for height sensors but the headlight sensor is the same principle.
