Default 95 ls400 - ecu

I was having trouble starting the car, then it would idle at high revs the go very low. Now will not start. Tech told me its the ECU and repair would be approx 3k, plus a couple of relays. I have pull the ECU, can I take this to be tested anywhere or send it to a reputable company to test and possibly repair. Thoughts, info would be appreciated.

You need to post in the regular LS forum where you might get more replies. This forum is people to track the progress of their cars. I would post your question in the ECU thread which is at the top currently and if you give more info maybe Yamae can help you out.

Could be the ECU but that would not be the first step in diagnosing the problem IMO. Check the ECU thread and ask some questions. Are you getting any trouble codes in the dash? If so pull them and then post them here. It could be many things like plugs,wires,alternator,etc..... Does the car crank but not start? And how many miles on the clock?

The FAQ can help you with these issues:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...questions.html

After testing if the ECU is still suspect:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...-by-yamae.html

Won't cost $3K. $10 in parts and finding someone to solder them.

The tech told you it would cost $3000? A brand spanking new ECU from Lexus themselves is barely half of that!

Like the others said, it's probably the capacitors.
