LS Almost Stalls When Coming to a Stop?
This is what's going on. .. when I slow down from normal driving speeds, and right before I stop, the RPMs drop below 500 and I almost stall out. It hasn't stalled yet, it sputters and RPMs go back to normal idle. And sometimes it wants to hesitate before taking off again. This is literally an overnight issue. Normally my car runs flawlessly. Im thinking maybe a sensor?

what year is the car?
there is an ECU software update for this on 1995's and other common causes are Idle Air Control Valve and failing ECU capacitors
Florida has an epidemic of capacitor problems, especially on 92-97 models, you need to check for diagnostic codes!

there was no software problem for this in the 97 model, that is strictly a 95 problem - so 90% chance it's the ECU capacitors, especially with a Florida car and the right year, but there is some chance it could be Idle Air Control Valve or something else as well. (another sensor such as Engine Coolant Temperature sensor being the most likely)
I would advise changing the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor with the genuine Toyota part (around $50 at any online Lexus dealership such as Sewell or Lexus of South Atlanta, or Park Place or Lexus Parts Now or your local dealership if you negotiate a mechanic's discount) because it is easy to do and cheap (about a 30 minute job) - because even if that is not the problem, the car should get better gas mileage and possibly have a little more zip with the more accurate temp info for the ECU, so it will not be a waste in any case. - It also improves the accuracy of Yamae's ripple test (below)
Then I would either do Yamae's ripple test (I can mail you the capacitor required) or else pull the ECU and photograph the inside of it for Yamae and I to evaluate for corrosive leaking electrolyte.

Ok... just got the code pulled. .. P0770. I want to say shift solenoid for sure but; What are the symptoms of a lock-up clutch failure? Because as I stated before, when I come to a stop, it shutters. Almost like when you're in a 5 speed and you don't push in the clutch when you start coming to a stop.

could be:
● shift solenoid valve SLU
● valve body blocked or stuck
● torque converter lock-up clutch
● ECU caps (transmission control is via ECU)
did they clear the code for you?
if not, they should have, if so - drive the car and see if the same code recurs
the thing is - Aisin transmissions don't tend to have these problems, unless abused.

definitely do a fluid & filter change, and replace just the fluid in the pan, no more than that lest you shock the transmission - stick with genuine Toyota T-IV fluid and the real Toyota filter, you transmission is too expensive for cutting corners!
I would do the ECU caps first, as that is 100 times more common on your year than a solenoid, and needs to be done anyway, since it will eventually become a problem, even if on the off chance it isn't the problem now.
solenoids have gone out in LS400, but it is not common, but 92-97 ECU's are blowing up all over the place!

I researched the code on the forums, one person also stated they had a whining sound. I've heard the same from mine but I thought it was possibly the alternator. All signs are pointing to this solenoid. This solenoid issue is common enough on the forums to cause me to make this my starting point.

I would do Yamae's ripple test or at least a visual and photographic inspection of the inside of the ECU before replacing expensive solenoids, there may be obvious capacitor leakage as soon as you open it!

test the old solenoid to make sure it needs replacement, all you do is pull it and give it 12v.

solenoid "E" should be the dark gray one.
