Here's mine for comparison. It seems loud but for some reason the garage walls and roof amplified the sound. This is hot idle with Mobil 1 0W-40.

You could also try how yours sounds without the plastic cover on top of the engine in case that is "rattling" or vibrating.

The car is very new to me and I am very new to the LS so perhaps its all in my head but I "thought" my car was near silent at idle prior to the work.

Is this a knock?

Please give it a listen and tell me what you think, some of you guys are freaking LS geniuses and I am learning a lot.. so thank you /bow

Default 1999 same issue

Hi
Did you figure out what was the issue?
I just replaced the timing belt on my 99, like you I double checked the timing and everything else but now the valves are knocking on both sides. I drove the car a few miles and not changed.

No. I have driven the car about 10,000 miles and the noise doesn't change. Overall the car works fine, no issues. I have just kept driving it like that

The original video reminds me of a similar sound I had on my 95 after doing a certain repair. It turned out a plastic cover had been improperly reinstalled and it scared me because I was wondering if the engine was knocking it was so loud. My guess is one of the various plastic covers needs to be reinstalled or snugged back down correctly. Also some of the covers have these rubber gaskets that line the edges to create a seal that can fall out.
