Default Driver Seat Sensor Switch

Just recently, I have noticed that even with me sitting on the driver side, The dash doesn't complain that I do not have a seat belt on. I don't mind about not complaining about the seat belt but actually the car is not recognizing there is someone sitting on the driver seat. Now this poses some problem as the LS has some intelligent built into the system.

I haven't quite figured out in full detail but even with the engine off, when I still sitting on the driver seat, after so many minute, if I try to exit through the door, alarm comes on as if someone is trying to braking in.

I think there is a sensor on the seat somewhere. Does anyone had similar problem? Where is the sensor and how do you replace them. Knowing I have to buy an OEM part, what is the cost I have expected to pay and what is the name of the part.

You input would be greatly appreciated.

there is a sensor in the seat but afaik it's not tied into the alarm.

It sounds like you're dealing with an alarm with a "passive" mode, that arms itself after being left alone for a few minutes. we need more details about what year your car is and if there's any history of aftermarket alarms and etc... (having it in your signature is not a substitute for posting it in the thread.)

Default Driver Seat Sensor

I have 93 LS and I think I am going to have to replace the sensor on the driver side seat as a first step. It would help me a great deal if you can tell me where the part is and if you seen a link in this forume or how to replace the part and the name of the part, that would help me out greatly. I can guess it would be somewhere under the seat but more information I have before I start to taking things apart, the better off you will be. Thanks.
