99 LS400 - Good Value?
I should caveat this post by saying that the pickings are slim in my area (Kansas City) for a very clean 98-00 with low miles.
Understanding that time is money and traveling to get a car will cost both, I am going to look (for a second time, went when dealer was closed) at a 99 LS over lunch today that meets some but not all of my wants.
The car is a 2 owner with 159k miles
Color is Jade Silver
Exterior is an easy 9/10 - i could not find a ding or scratch
Interior is likewise a 9 - no rips or cracks, even bolster barely shows wear
Car has the following options as I understand it:
Chrome Wheels
Nakamichi System but no Nav
VSC
Heated Seats
HID
CD Changer
NO Air ride (a plus in my book)
The downside is there is no record of a timing belt change on the carfax or at the registry and no plate on the engine bay that some dealers leave. Not saying its original but have to assume so with no record so that's $800 I am spending out of the gate.
The upside is that the dealer wanted $6000 and using the T-Belt I can drive it home for 5k.
Tires are good, car shifts great, checked every electronic, checked for any leaks or noises. She purrs.
Edmunds.com says 5400 dealer retail and 4100 private party.
KBB says 7700 dealer retail (yeah right) and 6120 private party.
Does this price sound in line? Good? Bad? Great? Steal? Rip off?
Any feedback appreciated.
