Burning smell when AC is running - fixed.
There was a burning rubber smell in the car when the AC was running.
Did the Indicator check (Turn ignition on while pressing Auto and Recirculate - gave error code: 16 -> Duct Sensor circuit (Passenger Side)
The part number for the duct sensor (its a thermistor in a plastic plug): 88625-50130. It cost me $44 at the dealership and later found it for less than half the price on the internet.
Opened up the passenger side panels: The lower cover, the glove compartment and the instrument panel box assembly.
It wasn't easy taking everything out but keep trying and it happens eventually. There was a bolt next to the door hinge which I ended up taking out. Had to take out the cd changer, the ECU box and another black box behind it also.
You have to reach quite far up to get to the duct sensor. Its plugged in just behind the vent at the passenger's face level. (with the white/blue and yellow/green wires coming out of it)

The old duct sensor didn't smell bad but gave an open (infinite) reading on the ohm meter.
After replacement, the burnt smell lingered until the cabin air filter was replaced and then it was ok.

No, it looks brand new and didn't even smell burnt.
The only way I could tell it was cooked was by putting a resistance meter on it. The ideal curve goes from roughly 1.6kohms at a temperature of 50 degrees C to 5.2kohms at 0 C. Mine had a reading of infinity at room temperature.
Sorry about the pictures but the focusing on the camera is automatic and a lot of the closeups don't turn out good.
As to the results of replacing the sensor:
1. gave me a feeling of accomplishment.
2. nasty burning smell is gone.
3. relief that I didn't destroy something else.
