My new 1995 LS400 125K miles-$3900.00
Hey guys (and gals)
Been hanging around for a while but finally took delivery of my 1995 LS400. Did lots of question asking and research before finally buying this car. I just got it yesterday from a small town in east TX about 2.5 hours from Dallas. Did an Autocheck and a Carfax on it prior to buying and everything came up clean. No accidents, no paint work, nothing funky in its history from what I could gather. Two owners and the last owners were a mid-60's couple that traded for an LS430. (Speaking of: I have an 04 LS430 Ultra Flint Mica/Black for sale if interested). Back to this car...........it is bone stock and from what I can tell has zero options on it for the 1995 year model, with one exception. It has the built-in Lexus phone from the dealer/factory inside the armrest. Showed it to my kids and they had never seen one. My 14 year old daughter actually used the word "creepy" when she saw it. My how the world of technology has changed. In any event, I am pleased as can be with the condition of this 17 year old car. Its a testament to what fine, sturdy pieces of engineering these cars are. I cannot believe you can still find a car like this for $3900.00. Before taking delivery it was outfitted with an OEM parts TB/WP kit. Everything works on the car with one exception: When I lock/unlock the doors you cannot hear the audible chirp or nor do the lights flash. Isn't that supposed to happen? Other than that this will serve as my platform to end up with a semi-VIP type ride. On my second post of the pics of my car, I have included a pic of the look I am going after. Any help getting to this look (wheel offsets, fender work, suspension etc....) would be greatly appreciated.

PS: I will be pulling the ECU soon to send it off for preventative fixing so that I don't suffer the leaking caps issues that are well documented by LSCowboy and his Japanese guru engineer. I recognize good preventative maintenance when I hear it.

Pole Position
The audible "chirp" has a volume **** under the dash to the left of the steering wheel. The lights dont flash. Good to hear you did alot of research before you bought it.

My car is the same year, also with the cell phone (wow!) under the arm rest. It has 118k miles and runs like a champ. The color is Black Jade, but I am thinking of repainting all Onyx Black. The stereo needs updating, and the car is at the Lexus dealer getting the speedometer fixed--those guys still can't figure it out. I am also thinking of replacing the stock wheels with Fittipaldi five-point stars. Does anyone have the same type wheels?

There are a couple of reasons I am going backwards from a 430 to a 400. Primarily its financial right now but its an easy call since I really enjoy the solid tank feel of the 400. Additionally, the 400 seems to float down the road whereas the 430 doesn't seem to convey that same cushy ride, riding more like a sports sedan. I know there has been a lot of discussion around this over the years but I forgot how much I like that steamliner feel. Now this next comment is always controversial but I like the body lines of the 400 better and I don't care for the bulbous nav screen set at the top of the 430 center stack. I guess it all comes down to what ya prefer.

LSCowboy,
I am not really looking to slam it but I would like to drop it some and widen her stance. You gotta understand that prior to getting back into the Lexus family I came from a 2002 e39 M5 BMW. So, I'm looking to get back to somewhat modified look..........not interested in curtains, tons of negative camber, bolted on poorly fitting plastics, but i don't wanna be confused with the retired 65 year old dentist headed to the country club. Feelin me?
PS: the only thing missing would be if this car was grandpa gold!!!

Clean looking 95 you got there, my fellow Texan.
I had a white 94 LS400 a few years ago and just last week got back in the LS400 world myself with the 96 I now have. Mine is probably not in as good condition as yours, but luckily it's not trashed, either. Then again, I also paid a whole lot less for mine.

Alarm Audio switch location
There's a push button on the bottom of the dash under the steering wheel. Just push it to turn on the alarm audio sound and you can push again and it turns it off. I found this out after reading the owners manual for my 97 LS 400, because I too couldn't hear any alarm chirp sound when locking/unlocking my doors with the remote.

"creepy"?? LOL never heard that word used for an Ls400! are these old enough to the young folks these days to look like spooky ghost cars?! and yes I don't blame you for going backwards. ive never agreed with the Ls430. I don't like the look of the car or the ride. Ls400 is superior. youd have to drag me kicking and screaming from my 95 Ls400. I love mine, and I don't want a newer car.
