Front and Rear Bumper
I got in a little accident. Really it was small. And now my front bumber along with my rear bumper needs replacing. My questions is, would it be easier to get a new front and rear body kit instead of bumpers. If this would be more cost effective are there any suggestions of good looking kits. Also how much would it cost to replace my bumpers compared to getting new front and rear kits.
My car is 1992 LS 400

i have an extra front bumper for a Lexus LS 400 i believe 90-94..i dont know what year is yours. but if you are interested let me know. the condition is in good shape..just needs to be sanded and repainted. there are two small holes on both sides which can easily be bondo'd...

Hi
I have a question about the bumpers. When you get involved in an accident (either major or minor) and you say that you "replace" the bumper, does this mean that you replace the whole entire bumper (with the metal bar behind it) or do you just change the frontal portion of the bumper? In other words, does the metal part (bar) that has the VIN sticker on it get changed too or do they just straighten the metal part, put it back and install a new cover on the old bar (so it looks new again)?? If they in fact change the WHOLE bumper on the car, then the car should no longer have a VIN sticker on its bumper... am I right??
thanks

Azari,
There are three parts to a bumper.
1- THE BUMPER COVER
2-THE BUMPER ABSORBER
3-THE BUMPER REINFORCEMENT (structural part)
The VIN is always attached to the REINFORCEMENT. So if they replace that then it no longer has the VIN numbers. If they only replaced the cover & absorber then all the vin #'s will still match.
If they refer to replacing the entire bumper assembly then it should be all three if they are knowledgeable in the field.
It all boils down to how hard of an impact it was.
Hope that answered your question.

thanks for the thorough explanation; Now it makes sense... it depends on how hard an impact it was: if just a little fender-bender, it's either the cover, or the cover and the absorber. If, on the other hand, it's a more serious impact (with more force) then it's going to be the whole thing, Reinforcement included (in which case your VIN sticker is gone)... I got it
