Turns out its the cats...revved it up for about 30 sec and the downpipe to the cats were glowing red hot! Guess i'm gonna delete them till I get my exhaust. Anybody had any issues after a cat delete?

unplug a coil pack and see if it makes a difference. I once spilled coolant and ruined a coil pack on my mom's 94.

looks like this.

there are two, one for each bank.

unplug one at a time to check out which one is bad.

Yep, did that.. The exhaust isn't flowing at all, hence the downpipes glowing cherry red...Should know by the end of the day. Thanks for the input!

how is that possible that an engine bay cleaning would lead to cats being bad?!

Initially the missfire probably cause the clogged cats, considering I drove it like that for 4days as it was my only transportation...

I'm guessing so lol.. Supposedly the raw fuel coated the mesh or whatever is inside the cat and melted it causing breathing issues?

If this doesn't fix the issue...I'm going to pop the ECU open and look for the infamous "leaking capacitors" I see a lot of post about how these little guys cause all kinds of problems...Although this didn't happen till I cleaned the engine bay..maybe it's a coincidence lol

If you have a misfire then unburnt fuel is burning in the cats and causing them to glow red and ruining your cats.

I'm driving it now and its running very rich, it has no power. I looks like I'm going to pull the ECU when I get home and see what the capacitors look like. Until then I'm up in the air lol. Posted from ClubLexus.com App for Android

so upon inspection of the ECU, all the capacitors are in good shape...no leakage. I'm at a dead end road at the moment Before I degreased the engine the car ran beautiful...even afterwards until halfway to orlando it started the misfire and gradually got to where it felt like it was running on 6, 7 cylinders... even then it has more power than it does now lol New plugs, wires, caps and rotors...gutted the cats... As far as the miss goes, its gone.. Like I said.."I should've known better" smh..

UGH! - when I see an engine that has had this done when buying a car, I run like hell!

Armor All will make your classy Lexus look like it is straight from the hood

if it running very rich, with bad smelling exhaust and glowing cats, this is classic open loop operation, which can be caused by a malfunctioning ECU or several other reasons. the capacitor problem doesn't always show up under visual inspection, mine had to get really bad before there was any visible clue. - If you are a good solderer and have patience and attention to detail, then just replace the caps with the premium Japanese ones as detailed and linked to in post #1 of my ECU repair thread and eliminate that as a possibility - ECU cap problems are not a case of if it is going to happen, but rather, when!

PS - Florida seems to be the #1 state for ECU cap issues, must be the heat + humidity + salt air?
