Default 4.0 v8

I am not sure if this has been covered,if so please redirect me. I am wanting to know if there is any common parts from the Lexus LS400 4.0 and the Toyota 4.0? I just had to replace oil control valves/solenoids. It started me thinking if they do interchange any parts? Thanks!

i know but if you try to get parts info from a Toyota parts Dept they cannot cross ref the parts. At least in Indianapolis. I am wanting to find part numbers that interchange.

What toyota v8 are you talking about?

The one in the Celsior?
If so, it is the same engine...

I think what you are referring to is a recent decision by Toyota & Lexus USA to stop letting Toyota branded dealerships look up Lexus part fitment, so you need to do your own part number research at home before going to the Toyota dealership to get often cheaper prices on parts for your Lexus.

our LS400's have a large number of parts that are used on other Toyota models (example: engine temperature sending units) and also many exclusive parts that will be unavailable from a Toyota dealership because they are unique to Lexus models (an example would be your air intake box that holds your air cleaner)

I like to start with a Lexus dealership, identify the part number, and then enter it into a Toyota dealership's online parts lookup and see if it crosses

You asked about an oil control valve, for example - Toyota part number 15330-38010 is used in the Lexus LS460 and LS600 and it is also used in the Toyota Tundra & Sequoia trucks!

The parts counter guy at the nearby Toyota dealsership has never been able to see which Toyota parts also fit Lexus vehicles and he's been trying for 23 years as we grow old together.

I'm seeing numerous small engine parts in common between the LS, Landcruiser and other vehicles but nothing major.

For example, the cross reference on the website shown in the attached image shows a connecting rod bushing used on many vehicles manufactured by Toyota.

It was used in Toyota, just not in the US.

PD's referring to the use of the 1UZ stateside, it was only in Lexus vehicles. Toyota for their JDM and certain export markets it was in the Aristo, Crown, Celsior and Soarer.

As far as the renumbering of parts, my Toyota parts guy had come up with simple stuff by looking at them. He'd commented that they really want to direct Lexus traffic to the Lexus dealers. If you are in a far out place where Toyota is the supplier for Lexus, that is the parts guy to hit up. I would wonder if Carson could do it but I don't know how their parts system is set-up and if using different numbers, it would be a trial and error hunt.

I have not found any parts have been "renumbered" for Lexus, if a Lexus shares a part with a Toyota branded vehicle, the number will be the same. What I have noticed, is that back in the day, the Toyota guy could look up on his computer and check and see what part number you need for your LS400, regardless of whether he carried it in Toyota stock or not. However, lately, the Lexus dealers have complained to Toyota USA that they were losing their high marked-up parts business, and so now the Toyota dealers have lost the ability to look up Lexus fitment, but will still gladly sell you any part that they carry, if you have a good part number!

PS - within vehicle twins, i.e. ES300/ES350/Camry, there is a huge amount of parts crossover, whereas LS400/430/460/600 is more limited since there is not a Toyota branded twin here in USA

I know, just a little sarcasm.
