Default LS400 should I?

Replacing my IS300 that meet a horrible death of total loss. I got an awesome pay out more than I bought it 2 years ago. Been trying to get a GS400 to get something bigger and faster but there are literally none in my area for sale that aren't 200k plus or in my price range. I found one but the hurricane flooded the area it was in and now I don't trust it to travel that far.

I found a 1998 LS400 with 153k miles http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...307250327.html.

Carfax says at 120k.

Maintenance inspection completed
Camshaft seal(s) replaced
Serpentine belt/tensioner replaced
Thermostat replaced
Valve cover gasket(s) replaced
Serpentine belt replaced
Water pump replaced
Timing belt replaced

Do you think it's worth it?

It looks reasonable but the other guys here can give you more info on the price point for its age/miles. It is nice to see some of the expensive maintenance is already done.

The LS is definitely a bigger vehicle- but I will say this- it has an AMAZING turning radius for its length (34 ft). As for speed- the V8 in these are solid but the car is also heavy- it drives very smooth and has been a great commuter vehicle for me (84+mi/day here)

not bad!
if you can make them come down in the price more then that would be better
check the power steering for leaks

I just finished test driving it. Lots of power but smooth.

I used to have a 1994 caprice LT1 which is as big if not bigger so no problem there.

It's so hard to gauge the prices because they're wildly all over the place.

getting a car with great leather, and the major maitenance done is far more important than shaving a few hundred dollars off the price, in my humble opinion. if it feels tight on the road, and there are no red flags like power steering leaking, i'd go for it. there is also the brain damage of trying to see a dozen cars all over the place and comparing one small imperfection to another on another car. there are no perfect used cars. as the guys on american pickers would say: the time to buy what you want is when you see it. and i kind of like the green. there are already enough pearl white ls cars around.

x2,

6 is reasonable,
everything looks in order to me, but if you like green go for it, all though it might be hard to resell it once you decide too due to the color.

I ended up not getting. The guy seems unsure if he wants to sell it now or before he buys a LS430 and kept changing the agreed price lol. I looked at another one which was silver but had no maint which was almost 1k cheaper. So I'm just holding tight right now.

Considering the age of these cars what's cost of finding a higher milage car and "rebuilding" it vs. finding one that's well maintained? Knowing that it's Lexus it's probably not a great option lol.

Give it time. The right one will come around soon before you know it.

Don't limit yourself to your local area too. The South is a great place to pick them up.
