I'm still inquiring on a local option but, if that fails, I'm going with Tanin.

I just did all the caps on my 1999 LS400, can confirm that they were still the quaternary ammonium from the letter markings on the side of PF(M) and PR(M). Did the traction computer while I was in there even though they weren't QA. The caps looked fine, and unfortunately redoing them didn't solve my cyl 6 misfire. The random misfire code hasn't yet returned but I'm sure it will. Already covered all the basics, don't know where to go from here but will have to dig into the wiring most likely, sucks. Least I don't have to worry about my board corroding now.

Big thanks to Yamae for all the contributions and keeping up with the barrage of questions, and to LScowboy for starting it. I made a video of the procedure for a single cap replacement. Will keep it ad free for a few days so members can get first look without being tempted to run to Home Depot for lawn supplies.

Its a bit easier if you use solder wick or a solder sucker on that back side and usually it removes all the solder so you can easily remove the old capacitor and install the new one, and if there is some blockage of the hole just solder wick it a bit more to clear it.

Not sure if running different ECU's from another model has been attempted. My suggestion would be to remove the ECU and inspect for any damage on the circuit board. If it is ok, then having the capacitors replaced is the easier option.

Cruise Control ECU
I just did the Cap replacement in 94 LS400 Engine ECU. That solved a no start issue. The Cruise continues to not work. There are no DTC for it.

Are there Caps in the Cruise ECU, that could be replaced?

LS 400 ECU Capacitors
Hey Guys Just had to share here.... My ECU seemed to be OK and just before it started acting up . I had one of the guys here do this job for me and I'm thrilled to tell you it made a DIFFERENT Car out of my LS400 sedan..... I'm working on something else at this time , totally unrelated but when I got mine back with the Switch all done. Everything works like a new vehicle. This Forum is the greatest spot I have ever experienced since my Advanced Auto classes in High School. I had a great teacher there and have saved tons on my stuff over the years and family and friends too .Yamae, and LS Cowboy !! You guys are magicians with this stuff ..... Quite a few other guys are really good here too .
